¡¡¡¡Fabio Quartararo took pole position at the GP of Catalunya MotoGP. After a dominating performance in the fourth free practice, the french leader in the championship once again confirmed his superiority in qualifying.

¡¡¡¡Qualifying started with Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha) leading 0.483s ahead of Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing Team Gresini) and Oliveira (Red Bull KTM) in third after the first few time attack laps. Valentino Rossi (Petronas Yamaha SRT) crashed on his second released lap.

¡¡¡¡After being passed by Franco Morbidelli (Petronas Yamaha SRT), Quartararo responded by entering the 1m38s to regain control. His teammate Maverick Vi?ales was then in third. With the improvements of several riders, Oliveira had already gone down to sixth.

¡¡¡¡With the first half of Q2 gone, the riders retired to the pits to prepare their final attacks on pole position. Jack Miller (Ducati) returned to the track to take second, while Oliveira returned to third. However, there were still the last laps and anything could happen.

¡¡¡¡Miller threatened to steal the lead from Quartararo, but fell and was out of action. However, he was unharmed. Quartararo was not able to improve, but no one could beat him, not even Miller, who was second at 0.037s. Johann Zarco (Pramac Racing/Ducati) moved up to third, putting in 0.196s. Oliveira improved but finished fourth at 0.246s. The top five was completed by Morbidelli ahead of Vi?ales, with all of them improving on their final laps.
